Dental Fillings and Crowns
If your child has developed tooth decay, our pediatric dentists may repair it with a dental filling. A dental filling is a restoration used to repair minor to moderate tooth damage. We may recommend a filling if your child’s tooth has been damaged by tooth decay (for example, if the tooth has a cavity) or if your child’s tooth suffers from minor fracturing or chipping. The dental filling is used to restore the tooth to its original structure and function and to return your child’s smile to good health. Under circumstances in which a tooth is severely decayed, we may need to place a customized dental crown to restore the tooth to its original shape and size.
Local Anesthesia
To help reduce or eliminate pain during your child’s procedure, our pediatric dentists may use local anesthesia. If your child needs a local anesthetic, Drs. Soria, Padmanabhan and Paolino will ensure that your child remains as comfortable as possible.
Local anesthesia, or numbing, during a dental procedure is designed to prevent pain or discomfort during the procedure. At our practice, we want your child to have a positive dental experience.
To apply local anesthesia, our pediatric dentists will dry part of your child’s mouth with air or cotton then swab the area with a numbing gel so your child will not feel the injection. The effects of the anesthetic may last between one and three hours.
We invite you to contact Pediatric Dental Associates & Orthodontics at 860-649-4655 and speak with Drs. Soria, Padmanabhan and Paolino about your child’s dental needs and options for restorative treatment.
