Dental Information

Special Needs

We are well suited to manage our special needs patients. From genetic to physiologic to neurologic to emotional disorders we are very comfortable in providing care for your special needs child.

Please allow us to get to know your child as well as possible prior to your first visit so we can customize our approach. Our administrative staff will help you get started.

Our pediatric dentists have been trained to provide comprehensive, preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special needs. As pediatric dentists we have the required comprehensive education in behavior management, growth and development, preventive and restorative dentistry, dental trauma, emergencies and care under general anesthesia. This is achieved by completing a post-graduate doctoral program in dentistry as well as two additional years training at an accredited residency program in the specialty of pediatric dentistry.

It is the providing of care in a compassionate, understanding and rewarding manner that we at Pediatric Dental Associates pride ourselves on. Our practice has been prospering for over 30 years and will continue to do so as we look forward to the challenges of the 21st Century.

Preventive Dentistry

Our trained staff will work with you to answer your questions, discuss proper oral hygiene and dietary practices, and address special concerns such as habits and family history of dental issues. We will work with you individually to insure that you will receive the best care and information leading your child to a lifetime of dental health. Starting in infancy we encourage dental visits within 6 months of the first erupted tooth or 1 year of age (whichever is sooner).

As your child matures we will work more and more one-on-one with them so that they can independently maintain good oral health throughout their lifetime. Other preventive services such as dental sealants and custom sports mouthguards are provided right here at Pediatric Dental Associates!

Restorative Services

The Doctors at PDA provide all of the restorative services (fillings, crowns, etc) necessary for our pediatric patients. These procedures are all approved by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as we strive for the highest standards possible in all the procedures we perform.

Our restorative procedures are performed with or without Local Anesthesia depending on the severity of the decay. Parents are allowed to be with their child in the operatory while treatment is being rendered.

Our caring, respectful, instructive interactions with our patients allows for most treatments to be performed smoothly without distress. If other means are deemed necessary to complete treatments in a safe, effective manner, we offer nitrous oxide sedation and hospital (general anesthesia) dentistry options.

Although not orthodontists, Dr. Kowalski and Dr. Koehler have taken extensive training in providing orthodontic services for our patients.

They are most expert in the interception of developing orthodontic problems. The Doctors will guide you through the process of your child’s developing occlusion (bite and crowding issues).

We will provide orthodontic services which we know will result in a beautiful smile. Many of our patients find it most convenient to have their orthodontics provided in the same office as their dentist. If your particular situation requires more advanced orthodontic care we will make a proper direct referral to an orthodontist.
